Musikiwest harnesses the collaborative power of chamber music to engender empathic awareness, promote conflict resolution and build peaceable communities.
SandBox is proud to be the new home of Musikiwest, an innovative program that brings chamber musicians into classrooms to teach conflict resolution while exposing students to world-class live music.
GREAT NEWS!
Musikiwest was once again awarded a very generous grant from the Pebble Beach Company Foundation allowing our musicians to visit the El Sistema program in Pajaro.
Stay tuned for more details.
2025 MC Gives campaign is currently underway
Musikiwest’s home is SandBox — a creative hub that, since August 2021, has amplified the vibrant arts community of Sand City and the greater Monterey region. In just a few years, SandBox has hosted more than 145 events spanning classical music, jazz, folk, dance, film, and theater. With its intimate 104-seat capacity, casual refreshment area, and welcoming atmosphere, SandBox fosters connection — inviting conversation among community members and between audiences and artists alike.
Funding will support SandBox’s performances and community access initiatives, including free Bach’s Lunchconcerts; free admission for youth ages 18 and under; discounted tickets for military members and students; and complimentary tickets for low-income individuals and families.
In addition, funds will be applied toward essential operating expenses, including artists’ fees, media systems, piano maintenance, rent, utilities, bookkeeping, program development, and marketing—ensuring SandBox remains a vibrant and sustainable home for live performance and community connection.
